The James Catalogue of Western Manuscripts

I. A note-book called in the Catalogue
Notae Roberti Fludd.
The contents are chiefly alchemical, and are in Latin, French and English: there are a few coloured diagrams.
The first note is
How to purify Antimony.
Antimony as it commeth out of the mines is not so pure as it ought to be.

II. Cent. xv, late.
f.1 Inc. prologus in libro qui vocatur Rosarium philosophorum
Laus sit deo patri qui dat sapientiam
-et quem uolueris inhonorabis.
f.1b Hic inc. quidam tractatus ex libris antiquorum philosophorum collectus
Desiderabile desiderium.
Ends imperfectly on f.42b. f.43 almost gone.

III. f.44 Cent. xvi (1531)
An alchemical poem in French:
II aduint vng jour que nature
en disputant a vng soufleur.
With marginal analysis by a later hand in Latin.
On f.66b the verse ends:
Plus ne ten dis mais je te jure
mon dieu quil fault suir nature.

Plusieurs anchiens et saiges historiens.
Verse resumed on f.69b:
Voeilleque on men desdye.
Ending f.71b:
Mais peu le troeue on par escript
sil nest m' oultres visiblement.

V. Cent. xvi.
On f.1: 'Thy Will be Dun o Lorde.' Probably therefore the book belonged to William Dunn.
A tract headed De Solutione Corporum.
Tota Chymia versatur in solutione et Coagulatione.

VI. Cent. xvi.
In four-line stanzas
Of seven degrees to heaven which may be called seaven heavens in earthe
I wolde I were in heaven.
I wolde I were in heaven (this worde
full manye full ofte cast owt at borde).
A worde and wishe to be alowed
if heaven by wishe might be avowed.
Ending:
And so the seven here to employ
that theight by them we may enioy.
geve grace (o God) and graunt us this
w^ch art o^r father in coelis. Amen.
