Faraday’s letters to Whewell were among the papers bequeathed to the College by Dr Whewell, and placed in this album in April 1932. Whewell's letters to Faraday were presented to the College by D. J. Blaikley in 1914 and 1916. Mr Blaikley had received them through the will of Miss Jane Barnard, Faraday’s niece (see letters 43 and 44 below). Further letters from Faraday to Whewell, dated 10 Aug. and 5 Oct. 1846, are O.15.48, fols. 30-31 (Williams nos. 344, 347; James nos. 1898, 1918).
