This is the only MS. extant of the greater part of this important treatise: Professor P. Koetschau in his recent edition in the Berlin collection of Greek Fathers, Origen, I. p. lxxxiii., gives an account of it.

Anno Domini 1670.and on the recto of the same leaf Hic est ille codex Holmiensis quem toties laudat Dan. Huetius in suis Origenianis. (Added) Donavit Herberto Thorndicio Isaacus Vossius. The manuscript's history as told by Daniel Huet is interesting. It was in the Library at Worms: when that was sacked, one Rumf, physician to Elizabeth of Bohemia, bought it for a small sum from a soldier. Rumf sold it at the Hague to Isaac Voss, who lent it to Queen Christina for some time and then gave it to Herbert Thorndike. |
